Spring Bottle & Box Painting for Jo Malone London

This past April, I had the incredible opportunity to take part in a beautiful product launch event with Jo Malone London. The event was in celebration of their new collection; a set of four fragrances inspired by the Scottish Highlands (which happens to be one of my favourite places in the world, and I can say that these scents absolutely do it justice).

This exclusive, invitation-only event took place at the Jo Malone boutique inside Holt Renfrew Ogilvy in Montreal. Guests were seated at a colourfully decorated table, with a palette inspired by the purples, yellows and blues associated with flowers of the highlands. They were treated to a mini masterclass with Jo Malone London expert Joe Davizio. This gave the guests insight into the history of the collection and allowed everyone to choose their favourite of the new fragrances. Teas with various different flavours inspired by the collection were served, alongside delicious hors d’oeuvres. This sensory experience was repeated with different groups of guests throughout the day, and I had the privilege of personalizing their chosen products with paintings inspired by the floral notes within the collection.

I absolutely loved working with this collection as my inspiration, as it allowed me to explore new colour palettes that evoked Spring and rain-kissed valleys of wildflowers (clearly I really do love and romanticize the highlands!). It also allowed me to paint specific types of flowers that I don’t often get the opportunity to paint. For example, I personally think thistles are gorgeous, but they are not the kind of flower that people would usually request - but with a fragrance called “Melancholy Thistle”, I had my chance to explore the beauty of this flower and share that with others. With other scents like “Wild Achillea”, “Highland Heather” and “Mallow on the Moor” I had plenty of opportunities to be inspired by different florals and greenery. My goal throughout the event was to honour the brand's heritage and elegance with my work, and I think that was achieved.

I’m so grateful to have participated in this bright, immersive experience that left a lasting impression on both the senses and the soul. It's events like these that remind us how powerful art can be in elevating sensory experiences, capturing hearts and creating moments of pure delight.
